Bundi

I will fill out some image 'blanks' from the trip this winter - places I travelled to but didn't get any images up on the blog.
First off is a variety of images from Bundi in south-eastern Rajasthan.  Most of these images were taken for HDR - multiple images at different exposures of the same subject, then brought together in PhotoMatix Pro and Photoshop.  I know that this technique is not everyone's cup of tea.....but, ah well, I like to play.
Bundi was, as before, a good stop for a few days.  The old town is a bit more mild-mannered than other big Rajasthan towns.  Still, there is more and more tourism from both the group tour and independent travellers.  Group tourism is what, I feel, changes the character of a place more than the independent travellers.  Bundi is still a bit up in the air as far as turning itself into a tourist town - it's got some interesting spots to see in the town and around, good walks.  But it is noisy from the constant traffic on the highway across the valley, it's pretty dirty in spots, and motorcycles and scooters whip through the narrow street at outrageous speeds (you see a number of dogs with broken parts quite likely from being hit).  It can also be a bit hit by the combo of dust and air pollution.  Still....I do enjoy the place....and it is the home of the best chai stall in India: Krishna's!

Please click on a pic to embiggen!

Hanging around - a retired guy's thing?

Looking down on and in the little alleyways in the town.
